Prevalence of Heart Diseases during Pregnancy in Astana, Kazakhstan
INTRODUCTION: The information about frequency of heart diseases (HD) during pregnancy varies greatly in different countrieS. Little information is available on this topic from Kazakhstan. In this study we present the prevalence of heart diseases among pregnancy women who attend the National Perinatal Center in Astana, Kazakhstan.
METHODS: Altogether, 12939 pregnant women were examined in 2009 – 2013 by Doppler echocardiography on the Vivid 7 Dimension.
RESULTS: HD were diagnosed in 300 pregnant, including in 220 (73.33%) congential heart disease (CHD) in 80 (26.67%) valvular healrt disease (VHD). CHD among pregnant were presented atrial septal defects (21.82%) and ventricular septal (17.27%), patent ductus arteriosus (13.64%), pulmonary artery stenosis (12.73%), aortic valve diseases (9.55%). Among VHD mitral valve diseases prevailed (67.5%), the prevalence of MS (40%). Pregnancy with CHD in most cases comes at the age of 30 years (73.64 %), while VHD - over 30 years (71.25%). Third of women with CHD and sixth - VHD have known about the HD in the present pregnancy. An increase in CHD and a decrease in VHD among pregnant in a 3:1 ratio with a high percentage of pregnancy on the background uncorrected CHD (83.33 %) and VHD (81.25%). In pregnant women with uncorrected CHD (11.36%) and VHD (7.5%), revealed the birth of children with CHD, among uncorrected CHD (4.09 %) and VHD (2.5%), respectively.
CONCLUSIONS: HD and pregnancy increases the risk of birth of children with CHD. Late diagnosis of HD among women of childbearing age is one of the reasons for the high prevalence of uncorrected HD, necessitating screening of echocardiography.
